The Safari Workshop
Half day / Full Day / Two Day Events
This event can be run over a half day or a full day. It can also
be combined with the Movie Challenge to create a more varied event. The
whole group will begin together. They are told to prepare for a Safari. The
group are divided into workable teams. A photograph is taken of each
team.
The aim is to complete all of the Safari activities, gaining the highest
set of team marks. The teams will move from one simulation event/activity
to another.
Examples of the types of activity that can be selected are:-
Task One - The Leopard Cage Trap
To design and construct a cage from the materials provided to trap a
leopard. The teams must demonstrate how the trap works.
Task Two - Blind Tent Erecting
Each team must nominate two of its members to be the group’s eyes. All
other team members will wear blind folds. Only those blind folded
can actually touch and erect the pole tent.
Task Three - Yellow Fever
The team are allocated a number but then become stricken with Yellow
Fever, leaving them blind. The teams are blindfolded to replicate
this. The witch doctor is called and the declares that the only
way to cure this is to line up in sequence without speaking.
Task Four - The Elephant’s Graveyard
A less physical activity requiring problem solving skills of a more cerebral
nature. The ability to solve the clues and puzzles will lead
to a bottle of champagne.
Task Five - Bush Telegraph
The group is split into 3 sections - Lookers, Runners & Builders. The
Builders are given a set of objects. These objects are duplicated and
placed in a certain way behind a screen. The Lookers must run to the
screen and remember how the objects are laid out. They then go to the
Runners and describe this. The Runners go to the Builders who ask them
questions which the Runners can only answer Yes or No in an attempt to replicate
the way the objects are laid out behind the screen.
Task Six - Safari Relay
The placings are announced before the final event. All teams take
part in the Safari relay. The Safari relay has a number of different
legs to it, including “Sleeping Bags & Crackers”, the “Three
legged strike” and the “Grip Those Thighs”
Prizes are then awarded to the winning team. Prizes
can consist of engraved shields for each member of the winning team and
engraved medals for the runners up.
Prices start from £995 for the
Half Day Workshop and £1,575 for the Full Day Workshop depending
on delegate numbers, venue and agreed programme.
